Chair fit for a princess

Not much of a chair, definitely not princess material.
My daughter has been using one of those folding metal chai
rs as her computer chair.  And as a princess, of course, she complains that it is so hard and proceeds to put a pillow on the seat for cushion.

So, as I finally made a trip to excess furniture sales on the military base, I found these not so pretty chairs.  The cost - $3.  (I spent a total of $20, several chairs, and other things). I already had the fabric I used for this project.  But had I needed to buy fabric, I imagine I would have gone for a cheap less fancy fabric and not spent more that $10 on it.

My particular chair was easy to disassemble, 4 screws for the back support.  Turn the chair over and there were 4 more screws holding the seat.
I took the time to remove the black bottom liner on the seat.  It was time consuming, but basically just use a flat-head screw driver to pry the staples up, and for the difficult ones, I used pliers.
I didn't take the time to take off the original ugly covers; it was in fairly good condition.  So I just covered my new fabric right over it.

Just wrap the fabric around the piece.  Almost like wrapping a present.  Just use a staple gun to keep the fabric in place.  (Note that if your fabric has design, you will have to make sure the print is facing the right direction and is centered.)
Also, take note where the screws will go into, you want to make note to not cover it.

Once you are satisfied, just screw the pieces back on.
AND TADA...  Chair fit for a princess!

Stamped Washers

So tutorials for these cute washers are all over Pinterest.
I finally decided to give it a go.  Following this great tutorial ...

http://jewelrymakingjournal.com/metal-stamps-tips-and-techniques/

I purchased my stamps from Harbor Freights (found it by the hammers)...came to about $10.
From Lowe's, I spent about $7 on different sizes of washers and also I small bottle of Brasso.

I bought the Brasso cause I noticed on some of the comments from the tutorial that the finished product sometimes looked dull...

Also, I wasn't quite Shiite what finish or what type of washers to buy.. besides the size, there are choices between stainless, zinc... I was a bit overwhelmed.  I just grabbed a few different sizes and finishes..for about $2 I had quite a collection.

Brought it all home and gave it a try....
I am still learning, but I am getting it.    This is a project that takes a little practice and you will mess up quite a few washers.  But its okay cause they are very inexpensive.  And well, for the ones that are messed up, don't throw them away...there are other tutorials out there.  I will give those a try next week.

For now... Here's a look at my try.  Please ignore the ugly look of the rope I have in the picture...I was too excited to share with everyone and show my brother a sample project I have in mind for our Family reunion.  Think of all the possibilities...key chains, necklace, bracelets, ornaments, gift tags...

Notes:
- a fine tip sharpie would probably work best to get into the stamped impressions.  (I didn't have one on hand.)
- polish the finished product with Brasso or something similar.
- definitely splurge and purchase a lot of washers... Be prepared to have a few mess ups. .and when you do mess up...don't worry.  Put those washers aside for another project.
- oh, and once you start, if you decide you want to get fancy with your stamped washers... Here is a website that has all kinds of stamps... Different fonts even little images...

Body by Vi Challenge

Body by Vi

So I was invited to a "Shake" party about two months ago.
I had no clue what to expect or what it was about.  I had been so busy I didn't even get to google before hand.
So I get there, and we are handed little Dixie cup samplers of the Visalus Shakes.  Following different recipes, there was only one I absolutely did not like and that was the Chocolate Mint Shake.
We were given the benefits of the shakes - loose weight - success stories were shared....
Sounded really great.
I am not overweight, but I know I have steadily been putting on some pounds... But I still was not sure that this is something I should do... It does cost money after all.

So, I put it off.  I was going to attend an event, and decided that rather than buying a new outfit, I would just wear a dress I wore a little over a year ago.  To my surprise... the few pounds I have put on.... I could not even zip my dress halfway up the back.  Could it be that I have put on more than just a few pounds....  To my scale I went - about 13 lbs heavier than what I remember to be my norm.

Hmmm... I found the piece of paper I received from the shake party... went to the website and placed my first order.  I didn't like that I had to sign up for auto shipment, but I figured if I didn't like it, I could easily cancel it.

Product arrived... and after a week - yes, exactly 7 days I have lost 6.6 lbs  and 1 inch around my waist.  And all I have done is taken 1 shake a day - no exercise at all.  It just so happened that because of different things I couldn't work out.. I know that to be truly healthy, I need to be active.  But can you just imagine if I worked out during those 7 days?

At the Shake Party, we were also told about opportunities to earn our product for free or even better make money promoting the product... But I was totally against it because how could I promote something that I am unsure about.  Well I have tried it, and it works!

So don't be like me and wait another month or week, join the challenge!

My waist measurement before... 34.25

My waist measurement after.... 33.25.  I used my belly button so I can measure the same spot each time

My before weight... 140.4 lbs

Forgot to rotate pic before uploading... after 1 week .... 133.8 lbs

First time I actually liked this feature on my scale.... down 6.6 lbs.
